We offer dignified and caring, direct cremations nationwide.

If you need help, we promise to take care of you – we never turn anybody away and don’t demand an upfront deposit.

A direct cremation is an alternative, more flexible option with no service at the crematorium. People often wish to “do their own thing”, holding their own memorial service at a time, date and location of their choosing.

We are an award-winning funeral directors and cover all of mainland Scotland. We are the country’s only not-for-profit funeral directors. All the practicalities can be arranged by us without any fuss, leaving those grieving free to say farewell how, where and when is right for them.

We also provide support for with applying for any bereavement grants or financial support available like the Scottish Government’s Funeral Support Payment

But we are much more than just funeral directors: we offer emotional support, practical advice and are lead campaigners in ending funeral poverty.

We believe in being upfront with no upselling, so here are all the prices we charge:*

  • Price of direct cremation including admin support, care and coffin – £1,145
  • Return of ashes to anywhere in Scotland – £95
  • Surcharge for residential/hospice collection – £250**

Also we don’t ask for an upfront deposit like other funeral directors.

We have recently launched Caledonia Funeral Aid – a support service for the recently bereaved, even if they haven’t used us for a funeral. Find out more by clicking here

We are so proud of our Good Funeral Guide accreditation review and testimonials with a 100% record of 5 star reviews including on Google and Facebook.

*Did you know that all funeral directors are legally required to publish a Price List for a standardised set of products and services. This is to help you think through your options and make choices, and to let you compare prices between different funeral directors (because prices can vary).

**Our partners require an additional charge of £250 for any collection of the deceased which takes place from a location without mortuary facilities, such as a private residence, nursing home, residential home or hospice. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we unfortunately can not absorb this cost and we therefore have to pass this charge onto the customer. If you are struggling to pay, we will do everything we can to support you.

They provide an invaluable and affordable service to the community, delivered in a professional and dignified manner. I would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone.” K McGhee

“The support of Stephanie, Angela and everyone involved at Caledonia Cremation was invaluable and I admire the work they do. They were friendly, sympathetic and above all, genuine. There was no sales pitch and I could tell they were happy to stay on the phone just to talk and make sure I was ok. They even went as far as to tell me to call back if I just needed to talk which was a great comfort. We will be forever grateful.” J Bendall

“They delivered a 5 star platinum service from start to finish, and I couldn’t rate them highly enough. From the minute I first spoke to Angela, I felt reassured and knew my dad was in the absolute best of hands. She, and her colleagues were so respectful, kind and empathetic, and went above and beyond. The setting at Clyde Coast Crematorium is stunning, the natural wilderness of the Regional Park. In my opinion, direct cremations are the way forward. It fitted my dad’s personality perfectly, and our family circumstances. Best of all, all that stress of organising an attended cremation was removed, and I could just focus on my dad. It was just perfect.“ L Farm

“Well done for such a friendly and professional service. I felt a bit overwhelmed by the whole
process but I was helped from start to finish. It was all made easy.” S Hayes

Testimonial

“A very big thank you to everyone at Caledonian Cremation. At a very difficult time you listened to what I was looking for with regard to my father’s wishes and carried out these wishes in a respectful, professional and prompt manner.” Peter Brent

We also have a special helpline for anyone considering claiming Funeral Grants or Benefits. These are officially known as the Funeral Support Payment or the Bereavement Support Payment.

The bereavement support helpline isn’t just for people who are using our service – we will help anyone facing financial problems because of a funeral. Many people are not aware that they are eligible, if they are then they won’t have to pay a penny for a funeral with us and they will get some money back to cover travel or a celebration of life. See our Funeral Costs Helpline page and Funeral Benefits page.

We also campaign for fairness in funerals in Scotland – fighting the problems and debt caused by UK Government funeral benefits policy and by the predatory parts of the For-Profit funeral industry. You can follow our campaign on Facebook or sign up to receive our newsletters at the side of the page.

Any profits are always reinvested in helping people in Scotland’s poorest communities who struggle to cope with bereavement. All donations are safeguarded by going through Community Renewal Trust, the registered charity which owns Caledonia Cremation.
